Did you know that UNICEF estimates that a staggering 130 million babies are born each year worldwide? That’s 369,318 bundles of joy every day, 15,388 bottom cheeks and feet entering the world every hour and 256 first cuddles every second of every day all year, it really is mind blowing to think that many bundles of joy enter the world year after year. Here in Australia we had just over 311,000 births per year in 2016.
The five most common birthdays in Australia are September 17, April 8, September 23, September 24/October 1 and February 12 with March and September being the busiest months for births.
Isla, Mia and Charlotte (one cute princess behind that ranking) and Oliver, Jack and William (with possibly her Dad behind this one) were the most popular names in 2017 in Western Australia.
What was also surprising is that UNICEF and WHO in collaboration with the Global Breastfeeding Collective, undertook a worldwide study and found that 60% of families bottle feed their bubs. Breastfeeding is declining worldwide for a multitude of reasons and families are bottle feeding from birth or introducing bottle feeding, either exclusively or as a supplement to breastfeeding, earlier. Which ever way works for your family, it’s an incredibly precious time and it’s nice to know that our products are out there helping families during those special moments.
